Swap File Encryption

Swap files are temporary data files that are created by the connector during certain operations. Swap files are deleted once the operation that created them is complete. However, if the application that uses the connector terminates unexpectedly, the swap files may remain on the disk. In addition, it is possible for the swap files to be accessed while they are in use.

By default, swap files are stored as unencrypted data. This allows for greatly increased performance, but may be considered a security risk in certain environments.

To keep your data as secure as possible, the Simba Responsys ODBC Driver allows you to encrypt the swap file content. For information about how to configure swap file encryption, see Encrypting Swap Files.

Important:

Enabling swap file encryption can significantly decrease performance. Only enable swap file encryption in situations where it is required.
