The Simba Apache Hive ODBC Connector supports both catalogs and schemas to make it easy for the connector to work with various ODBC applications. Since Hive only organizes tables into schemas/databases, the connector provides a synthetic catalog named HIVE under which all of the schemas/databases are organized. The connector also maps the ODBC schema to the Hiveschema/database.
