Vizlib Finance Report Properties - Data (Dimensions and Measures)

Dimensions
By default the first dimension will be the level 1, the second level 2 etc. The finance report allows 5 levels of dimensions, so it's possible to expand data in 5 levels. You can also use the last dimension as a top dimension. Use top dimension needs to be enabled in Settings (Figure 1).

Dimension Settings
The setting to Include null values is typically NOT enabled in the first dimension of the Finance Report (Figure 2). The reason is that it is very common that the report setup does not include all the data in the application.
Note: Enabling null values is a good way of finding Accounts or other data not associated with a row in the Finance Report setup. Whether this omission is on purpose or unintended is of course up to the report designer.

Selecting a Limitation (No limitation, Fixed Number, Exact Value and Relative Value) will apply conditions which will affect the number of records displayed chart layout (Figure 3).

Show totals has been enabled for all dimensions for Vizlib Finance Report version 2.4.0 and above (Figure 4). It was previously restricted to the first dimension and the recommendation is still to define any totals in the template rather than using table totals, as the total of all report rows can sometimes seem misleading. You can choose the Top dimension total position and the 1st row dimension total position, as well as add a Totals label.

Representation
Sub row Dimensions can be used as a link instead of the default text Representation (Figure 5). If set to URL, the label of the sub row can be configured with an optional expression or string in the URL label property. When the row label is clicked the link will be opened in a new window (clicking elsewhere on the row will still initiate selections).

Alternative Dimensions
As with Qlik Sense, Vizlib Finance Report supports alternative dimensions.
Options for Alternative Dimensions
When adding an alternative dimension you can choose whether it should be on the row dimension (the first level), sub dimension (the second to n level) or top dimension (Figure 6).
Note: If you allow an alternative dimension for the first level you have to make sure it has the proper dual coding.
The Finance Report is limited to 10,000 columns so make sure no dimensions with more than 10 000 values are allowed as top dimension. Typically top dimensions with many values will create huge tables for the browser to handle so from a performance perspective it is recommended to have only a very limited number of columns in your reports.

How to Change the Alternative Dimensions?
The user can select alternative dimensions by clicking on the dimensions drop-down. The top and row dimensions are listed first and then the sub rows. This feature is disabled when comments are activated in the Finance Report.

Tag Properties on Dimensions
For easier setup and maintenance a master item dimension can include a property tag. These property values are not actively linked to the master item so any changes requires a user action.
Update Tag Properties
To read tags from the master item and update the properties in the extension, use the Update master item tags button found in Data > Dimensions > "Dimension Name" > Update master item tags.
Set Tag Properties
To store the current properties in Master item, click Set tag properties found next to the Update master item tags button.
Return to Default Dimensions
If you need to restore the default dimensions for the report, you can choose Return to default dimensions from the context menu when you're in analysis mode (Figure 8).

Measures
It is possible to change the background color and text color for measures. You can also add a group for your measures. If your expressions are after each other and have the same group name they will
be grouped (see picture below where the expression "=Max(Year)" is used to create a group for 2019). Enabling Top Dimension will disable groups, they cannot be used at the same time.
Note: It is possible to add up to 50 measures but carefully consider the performance implications of using that many measures. Especially when also adding a top dimension a high number of measures will impact performance. The absolute limit if the table is 10 000 columns. This means that if 50 measures are used the maximum number of unique values in the top dimension is 200 (50*200=10 000).

Measure Title Settings
The default color for the titles is picked from the Appearance section of the property panel. To have a specific color for each title/header change these two settings in the measure.

It is possible to use HEX-color, RGB-color or Qlik Expressions.
Text Color
The colors of the text can be set to red for all negative values (better performance) or with any valid Qlik expression (slower but fully flexible).
Calculation Condition
To prevent a measure from being calculated, use the "Calc. condition". If the result of the calculation condition is 0 the measure will not be calculated and the column will be hidden.
Indicators
For all measures there is an option to add visual "indicators". When activated indicators can be displayed either as data bars or icons (Figure 11).

For both icons and data bars it is possible to use either the simple or advanced mode. In simple mode, colors are picked as selections while more options are available in advanced mode (Figure 12).

Tag Properties on Measures
For easier setup and maintenance a master item measure can include a property tag. This setting is only available when the measure is a Master Item. The property values are not actively linked to the master item so any changes requires a user action. Tags entered in the Edit Master Item dialog are limited to 31 characters.
Example Measure Tag Properties
"cl-fr-group-Actual vs Budget" will set the Group property to "Actual vs Budget".
"cl-fr-group-=Max(Year)" will set the Group property to the expression "=Max(Year)"
If comments are enabled these properties can also be set with tags (Figure 13).
