How to Manage Templates

Vizlib Templates have been designed to help you create eye-catching pre-designed charts quickly, and apply your own styling. They've also been design to be easy to manage and this article takes you through all the steps you need to manage and publish your custom templates.

Vizlib Templates in the User Portal

You can find all of your templates settings by selecting the Templates section in the User Portal (Figure 1). When the page opens, you'll see tiles displaying all the templates currently available to you. If you're looking for a template with specific properties, you can use the Search function, and also use the filters to display Published templates, Unpublished templates, and templates for a specific Extension.

If you're an admin user, you'll be able to view, edit and delete all the public and private templates listed in the portal. Any other users will only be able to view their personal private templates.

If you'd like to make any changes to a template (Published or Unpublished), hover over the template and click the menu button when it appears.

Unpublished Templates

If you open the menu on an unpublished template (Figure 2), you'll see the following options.

  • Publish template - click to publish the template. You'll see a pop-up notification when the status moves to published.

  • Edit name - click to open the pop-up and enter a new name for the template. You'll see a pop-up notification when the edit is saved.

  • Delete - Deletes the template.

    Important: This action can't be rolled back.

If you publish a template, it will become available in the Qlik Sense hub, in the Published in Vizlib tab in the Templates properties for the extension (Figure 3). You can find more information on Templates properties here.

Published and Default Templates

If you open the menu on an unpublished template (Figure 4), you'll see the following options.

  • Unpublish template - Click to unpublish the template. You'll see a pop-up notification when the status moves to unpublished. Unpublished templates will no longer be available in the extension Templates properties.

  • Set as default - Click to set the template as a default for the extension.

    Note: Only published templates can be set as the default. If you'd like to remove the default settings, click the option again. You'll see a pop-up notification each time the default status changes.

  • Edit name - click to open the pop-up and enter a new name for the template. You'll see a pop-up notification when the edit is saved.

  • Delete - Deletes the template.

    Important: This action can't be rolled back.

Users

The Users section (Figure 5) contains a list of Vizlib users who are able to work with templates. You can click on View Templates to display the templates the user is able to view.
