Properties - Reference Objects

The Reference Objects menu (Figure 1) helps you use Vizlib Line Chart to highlight particular areas or values which need more attention.

You can add dynamic Reference Lines and Annotations using text or Qlik Sense expressions. You can also enable Data Driven Annotations by linking the annotation to fields from a data source and using them as variables. This is especially powerful as a new annotation will automatically be added to the chart for any new record added to the field.

Reference Lines

This section describes formatting options for using dynamic reference lines in Vizlib Line Chart. To start, open the Reference Lines menu and Select Add Reference Y Axis or Add Reference X Axis, depending on where you want the line to be plotted. When the settings panel appears you'll be asked to enter a reference Value (text or expression) on the axis you've chosen and select the Axis Position (Figure 2). You can also name the reference line by entering a Label.

In the Label settings (Figure 3), you can set the Font Color, Font Size, Font Style, Titles Position and Label Position.

The Line settings (Figure 4) lets you set the Line Color, Line Width and Line Style.

If you select Enable Borders, you'll display a border round the label (Figure 5), and set the Background Color, Border Color, Border Width and Radius (changing the radius will make the border square or circle shaped).

You can also choose to only Show the reference line if a condition is met (Figure 6) by entering an expression.

Figure 7 shows reference lines which are only displayed when a condition is met (Sales Unit figures lower than 230k are referenced as Poor and higher than 450k are Great).

Annotations

This section describes formatting options for using Annotations in Vizlib Line Chart. To start, open the Annotations menu and Select Add Annotation. When the settings panel appears you'll be asked to enter a reference Value on x-Axis (the first dimension you want to use) and a Measure value. You can also select the position of the Annotation Axis (Figure 8).

In the Title settings (Figure 9), you can set the Title, Title Color, Title Font Style, Title Font Size and Annotation Title Font Family.

If you choose to show an Annotation Description (Figure 10), you can set the Description Color, Description Font Style, Description Font Size, and Annotation Description Font Family.

The Annotation Type settings (Figure 11) lets you select from the list of available annotation types: Annotation Distance, Annotation Angle, Connector Style, Text Padding, Annotation Color, Circle Radius, Double Circle.

You can customize the Annotation Color, Line Width and Line Style for each type.

You can choose to only Show the annotation if a condition is met (Figure 12) by entering an expression.

Figure 13 shows annotations which are displayed it only when the calculation condition is true.

Data-Driven Annotations

This section describes formatting options for using Data-Driven Annotations in Vizlib Line Chart. To start, open the Data-Driven Annotations menu and select Add Annotation. When the settings panel appears you'll be asked to enter a reference Value on x-Axis (the first dimension you want to use) and a Measure value. You can also select the position of the Annotation Axis (Figure 14).

Note: Data -driven annotations will only be displayed if there are the same number of data values for Value on x-Axis, Measure value and Title (e.g. 4 dimension values, 4 measure values and 4 title values). If you add another (or remove) a value (e.g. 4 dimension values, 5 measure values and 4 title values) data-driven annotations will not display.

Note: In the Annotation Panel, you can only enter values without square brackets. For example, if the Measure value is [SalesAnnotation] instead of SalesAnnotation, the Data-Driven Annotations don't work.

In the Title settings (Figure 15), you can set the Title, Title Color, Title Font Style, Title Font Size and Annotation Title Font Family.

If you choose to show an Annotation Description (Figure 16), you can set the Description, Description Color, Description Font Style, Description Font Size, and Annotation Description Font Family.

The Annotation Type settings (Figure 17) lets you select from the list of available annotation types: Annotation Distance, Annotation Angle, Connector Style, Text Padding, Annotation Color, Circle Radius, and Double Circle.

You can customize the Annotation Distance, Annotation Angle, Connector Style, Text Padding, the Annotation Color, Connector Size, Rectangle Width, Rectangle Height, Rectangle Color, and the Rectangle Color Opacity.
