Properties - Settings

This topic contains the following sections:

Dimensions and Measures Sort Order

This setting will decide how the lists with dimensions and measures are sorted. Sort alphabetical will sort ascending in alphabetical order. This is the default. Sort by data set order follows the order the dimensions and measures are placed in the table starting from the left if this is a table data set (created from a native Qlik Sense Table). For normal data sets (created with the Data Set Creator), the order will go from top to bottom. If a special sort order is needed this is the easiest way to achieve that.

Sort Selected Items First

This will move all selected items in dimensions and measures to the top. The advantage is that no selected items are "hidden" in the lower part of the list.

Allow Collapse

When activated, the Custom Report will show only a title once the collapse size is reached. Collapse will happen when the min width OR min height is reached.

Export Data Set Title

The data set title will be included in the export when the option is activated.

Mashup Export URL

When used in mash-ups it is typically required to change the export URL in order for the export to function as expected. Only change this if you understand how the extension will behave in a mashup.

Zero Values On/Off as Default

This will set the default for zero values on/off. User can still change this in the extension from the context menu (unless visualization settings are hidden from the context menu).

Override Include Null Values

This will override the setting from the Master Item table on including null values or not. Similarly, for normal data sets, it will override the measure setting for including null values. This setting can sometimes be useful in pivot tables when excluding null values on sub-dimensions can cause unwanted (but correct) results.

Defer Layout Update

This feature is essential when working with larger data sets since it limits the amount of times the values need to be recalculated. Enabling defer layout update will hold an update until the Update layout button is clicked (Figure 1). The user can then make several selections in quick succession without having to wait for the data set to refresh.

Add Variable

By default (for performance reasons), the Custom Report visualization is not re-evaluated on variable changes unless the variable is somehow included in the calculation of the visualization (I.e. is part of one of the measures used). For some use cases, a variable only used in other places should still trigger an update. Most notably, this is used when creating solutions for managing different languages by using variables. With the Add variable feature (Figure 2), Custom Report will refresh as soon as any of the listed variables is updated. Make sure to only add variables that are strictly needed since re-evaluation can be very costly for performance, especially in larger data sets.

Selection Settings

Selection Settings are found in the Settings section in the property panel (Figure 3).

Enable Allow Selections to activate the select icon in dimensions (Figure 4).

The Selection Bar shows (or hides) the small bar at the bottom of the dimension (Figure 5).

Trellis Settings

Trellis Settings control the display for Trellis Mode (Figure 6). When it's enabled you can set the default sheet size and the maximum available number of objects in a sheet.

Analytic Search Settings

There is a separate topic on Analytic Search, found here.

Customizable Buttons

The Customizable Buttons settings allow you to add up to three customizable buttons to your custom report (Figure 7). Clicking Add Button will create a new button object.

Figure 7: Customizable Buttons

When you start to customize the button settings (Figure 8), you can select Show button title, and enter expressions to add a Show/hide condition and set an Active State. If you enable a Button Icon, you can select an icon to display, choose to display on Left or Right, choose an Icon Color and set the Icon Size.

You can also customize the button Font, setting the Font Size, Active Color and Inactive Color. You can also set an Active Color and Inactive Color for the button Background (Figure 9).

You can also integrate Vizlib Actions with the button (Figure 10), clicking on Add Action to open the settings. Once you've selected the action from Pick Action, you can enter any information you need. There are specific actions for custom report available, with a range of exporting functions and the option to include zero values.
