Best Practice and Troubleshooting
When you're working with Vizlib Selection Bar, it's important to be clear about what you can and can't do. We've collected together any known issues and limitations and listed in this article for you, along with any answers to any other questions you might need.
This topic contains the following sections:
Best Practice
-
Let's introduce you - If you're new to Vizlib Selection Bar, or looking to find some information, the Introduction page has links to the product resources and knowledge base articles.
-
Get started - Always use the Getting Started article to start building a visualization, you can always add expressions or edit data in the property panel once you have the basic version.
-
Set the date - When you're working with date selections, always define your field as a date (a dual value with a numerical and a text representation) to ensure the data is represented properly.
-
Performance - Vizlib Selection Bar uses the Qlik Sense hub engine, and each individual value will be processed separately. If you're working with very large amounts of data in your chart, this will affect the Qlik Sense engine processing time and performance may become slower. You can find more information in our article on Best Practice and Performance Optimization in Qlik Sense.
Limitations
-
Selections - Initial selections will not work on calculated dimensions/autogenerated date fields.
-
Dates - After changing the default date format, the cache needs to be cleared in order to get the date range picker to work.
